Well, there's your problem. You're trying to use Handel. :-)
The latest Handel is _18 (as of last night).

up though _17, Handel required -current, which had things _01 didn't.
I just uploaded _18 to CPAN last night, which works with DBIC dev _02
instead of requiring -current.

Probably none of which are related to your problem.
