Also the default timeout for a DNS reverse lookup on all platforms I am
aware of is at least 25 seconds.  If you are seeing 5 second delays this is
probably some other issue not DNS.

If you are seeing 25 -> 60+ second delays you may add an entry for your IP
address to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts or /etc/hosts for your IP
( take a look at /etc/nsswitch.conf or its variants too to make sure files
is listed first) -- that should take care reverse/forward dns timeouts for
testing.
