This qualifies as a worst-practice, but you can use the "abbreviation" 
pragma:

  use abbreviation qw(Very::Long::ClassName::Here);
  my $obj = V::L::CN::Here->new;        # same

Really, though, your text editor should take care of that for you.  Try 
M-/ in emacs.
