So long as the tutorial is in it's own distribution, the working code can be
included in the test script.   Use a Test::WWW::Mechanize::Catalyst script
to make sure the application works properly.  A good example of a T::W::M::C
script can be found in the Plugin::Session distribution.

You probably want to fall short of make install actually installing the
application in perllocal mind you - make install should probably put the pod
somewhere in perllocal, but not the app.
