My app is running under Apache 1.3 - I already tried the corresponding
Apache module and it didn't really work... It needs Apache::Filter and
so on.

Having compression in Cat is great. I don't care if it takes a few cpu
cycles more :-)

So, what has to be done, to upgrade the compression plugins to 5.5. They
are quite short... :-)
