He says several things there, not just one. You are focusing on the
only negative thing.
What he's referring to here is that when I demonstrated the auto-CRUD
modules for Catalyst and OI2 I mentioned that the Catalyst one was more
difficult to get going and required reading the source for most of the
modules involved. This is entirely true. (See the mailing list
archives for threads about CRUD where people less determined than me
ended up deciding it was just broken and giving up.)
The newer one Sebastian posted last week looks better, but since auto-
CRUD is not a focus for Catalyst it's not surprising that the current
CRUD module has not received much attention and is thus very minimal and
not easy to use. (I also talked about the minimalist templates being a
reaction to problems the team had when supporting Maypole.)

OI2 is better for certain types of people working on certain types of
projects, which I explained in the talk. I did not portray it as a
panacea.

Jesse and I both live in New York and we've been friends since before
Catalyst. We often talk about this stuff off-list.
